Moon in the 8th house: The Brave Survivor

Those born with the Moon in their 8th house are in for a ride. This planet in particular by nature is subject to change, waxing and waning. The moon is in rhythm with the element of water and the sign of Cancer. If you are born with your moon in this mysterious house, your states of mind are subject to constant up and downs. This basically means that the only thing you can rely on is that nothing lasts. This statement holds true about events in your life- people, possessions and thoughts all come and go. Perhaps that is why you are so passionate about what you have- you know it is fleeting and you desperately need to cling to it before you lose it forever.

As emotions are like currents and waves, you can feel safe knowing that negative states of mind will go away on their own. You simply need to let go in order to reach inner harmony. Learning how to let go might be the hardest lesson for this moon- you are deeply tied to the past. You have a very good emotional memory and can vividly recall how you felt about something no matter how long ago.

As I mentioned before, your life in general, tends to be somewhat dramatic. It is not unusual for people with this moon placement to experience death, illness and catastrophe in childhood. Even without actual events- there is a tragic heavy weight on your shoulders. Because you are so intuitive to the needs of others, as a young person many (family usually) relied on you for healing. When something hard happened in the family or home- you were subjected to standing strong and surviving.  As a result you have many emotions which you did not process or express. You think you have to be strong, stoic- unlike other people. In a way you are right- you are stronger than others people- you can feel so much more and keep going. On the other hand, this is just your survival mode that won’t let you deal with the difficult events. You are probably quick on your feet in emergencies.

At heart, you have a great healing power to help others face who they are. People tell you their secrets and you listen. You take it all in and learn from it. This is where the intelligence you possess comes in- you learn by observing emotional currents. This is true about all water moons in general, but a moon in the 8th house.

You take it all in and learn from it. This is where the intelligence you possess comes in- you learn by observing emotional currents. This is true about all water moons in general, but a moon in the 8th house would utilize the skills of the sign it is in. For example, a Moon in Gemini in the 8th house would be able to talk and communicate difficult emotions after talking to many people about their problems. They may be a bit of a copycat and a great actor.

Generally, people with the Moon in the 8th are very mature. On an inner level, there is something heavy and serious about them. It is like they never were just children- they always had worries and thoughts about life. They are always searching for meaning and truth within the realm of the 8th house. You see- the Moon has a lot to do with what we think- what is on our mind. Here the mind creates an obsessive loop of thoughts about fear. Because the thoughts are focused on very primal needs- survival, safety, sex, food and love. The result is strong feelings that might feel like anxiety, fear, depression and anger. If you take the layer of these feelings down you will find that people here are always in search of bliss. They want to experience perfect love, perfect harmony and unity. Because you need this meaning and can’t always find it in life- there becomes a programmed way of thinking that can be very anxiety inducing, hence the “bad” reputation of people with this moon being melancholy. In truth, is not the natural state of mind but a result of not dealing with inner needs. You have a need for deep experience and meaning and if this is something you can integrate in daily life- you will be just fine.

You simply have to accept how passionate you are and that you have needs that are a little different in their intensity. The Moon rules our inner home – our security. For you this place is threatened from within. You are a survivor that is also a destroyer. Your own worst enemy. How? By thinking thoughts that only pull you down and that focus on negative things. Once you fully accept you need to feel safe and start finding outlets- the record will be broken and you can start anew. In fact, that is a good description of your life. Going deeply into various places and starting over when they don’t serve you anymore.

On a social level, you are probably what others would describe as interesting. You have an aura that promises something more just around the corner. The way you move through life leaves other people excited and interested. You can also be wonderfully dramatic and artistic in how you express yourself, charismatic even.

There a beautiful quality to your voice, movement and speech. It comes out as something very raw and animalistic or dreamy and melodious. Regardless you attract a reaction of some kind.

As it happens, all the beauty you have to offer is not seen by people. It is not a stand out in a crowd kind of charm. You are very private and share yourself with very few. You guard your emotions and people may get a different person in public. This is especially true about fire signs who may appear much more open than they really are. Although they can still charm you to death.

I think the key with this Moon is to find an inner security that stands on a strong ethic of self-love. This is a process of coming to face with emotions and with putting up strong boundaries. Once this starts to take place an element of the Moon in the 8th house starts to appear- and element of great strength and healing. Without fear you can truly share with other people, stand on a podium and heal, sing you heart out, create a masterpiece or a happy home. You will always be there for people you care about- and you will also learnt to let go and be above petty hurt. No one can hurt you with their words or actions if you don’t let them. You are a survivor.

Fire Moon in the 8th

You have endless energy and may seem very headstrong, inside you are much more sensitive and less extroverted. You have a lot insight into human character and what makes people feel important. You know how to put on a show and can act out any state of mind with ease. You need to feel respected and respond with irritation when you perceive a threat to your sense of self. Drama, writing, acting, the law and dancing can be great outlets.

Earth Moon in the 8th

You have a strong resistance to change but you also crave it. You seek lasting relationships and situations. Your foremost need is to feel secure on an emotional level and build trusted foundations. You are a person of depth as you respect the hidden agendas of others and know there is always a reason. You choose your surroundings with care. Nature can be soothing and film, painting, poetry and singing good outlets.

Moon in air in the 8th

You re sharp as a knife. A deep thinker and an amazing communicator, you influence people with ease and can be both very diplomatic and overwhelming in your strength. At times you can become shy and act a little cold. You don’t like to be overpowered by your emotions and prefer thinking them out. You can sometimes offend others without knowing why. You are in conflict between wanting to keep it light and wanting enlightenment. You are a seeker of truth and a detective. Good outlets are politics, public speaking, research, activism, medicine and playing an instrument.

Moon in water in the 8th house

You are a secret dreamer, you enjoy a broken type of beauty and you find your ideals don’t always match up with life. There is a mysterious quality to you that no one can pin point. At times you feel your emotions are too ugly to bear. At others you feel you found “it” and are overwhelmed with joy. You are a natural psychologist and have the emotional intelligence of a mythical creature. At times you can be self-destructive and overly protective. Good outlets are helping others, healing and all artistic endeavors.

Sun-Neptune Aspects : Who am I?

What happens when the Sun touches Neptune in your natal chart? Well, what you get is very interesting.

Sun is your true self, it is who you are on the most basic energy level. Most people grow into their Sun identity with age because it takes time for us to really mature and figure out our identity. The sun is your life force, vitality and will power. Neptune unlike the Sun is not a personal planet. People forget that but Neptune is a collective “far away” planet. Neptune is far away in more ways than one: It is tied to the realm of the other world, the other dimension which is ruled by spiritual forces. It is a very unusual symbol- it is both like a child: intuitive, emotional, creative and like a wise old man impacting you with it’s wisdom and power.

Neptune can be tricky for this reason- you never know if it is giving you insights about the world or tricking you into escapism. It is very elusive and hard to grasp Neptune unless you are working within its power- making art, music or falling in love.

So imagine that you have this poetic force touching the core of your self- infusing your vitality, soul body and will power with its dreamy energy.

People with aspects between Sun and Neptune tend to have a true romantic streak to their nature. When I say romantic, I don’t mean they are soft people, not at all! But that they are able to experience the beauty of the world on another level. They can feel on an intuitive level that the world is an illusion. They also tend towards some form of idealism, that’s where they are far from soft in their core beliefs and values.

Still, what is amazing about these people is their ability to be in touch with the collective experience of humanity. That experience can very beautiful and positive but also destructive and negative. Many of them make great poets, artists and marketing people because they can feel what other people are about. They just have some special knowledge of what is going on in the world – that can seem like magic.

Aside from the inner experience, on the outward level these people are also masters of illusion. Because the Sun (identity) is clouded by the elusive Neptune force. They don’t really know who there are because that changes and shifts depending on where and with who they are. They are strongly affected especially in youth by people and the atmosphere.

Walking into a room that is full of bad thoughts and feelings really touches their core.

Their identity is not a stable thing and if can be very hard to figure out what is their wants and needs and what is really the people around them. That is why it is very important they grow up in a home that allows them to explore their desires and creativity. Sadly, most Neptune-Sun people grow up with people who overpower and dominate them. As children, usually one of the parents is prone to not be there fully. This can mean they are a parent who is escaping- by drugs, spirituality or not being at home. Maybe the parent is  a very loving person but they have a fragile element to them. This person can’t show the child how to have a strong identity.

The child learns to be many things to different people- and is very good at it. But the true self stays under a fog- not completely explored or visible.

That is why when growing up this person would “try on” different identities. They will be Buddhist for a year and then a hippie and then an animal rights activist.  These are all easily discarded the second a better philosophy comes along.

What can help a Neptune-Sun person is too get in touch with themselves through creativity. They are by nature very creative and have a lot to offer the world. Finding out what is unique and to express it will allow them to figure out where they stand.

Still, they might always feel a bit like they don’t belong. That is fine because the truth is they just have a much more delicate knowledge of the world and they do see the how it works. On an intuitive level they know they are right and that love and beauty would overcome all the horrors of the world.

I’ve mentioned escapism before- it is true that the downfall Neptune presents is escaping, not dealing with reality or being really hurt by it. It is important that Neptune-Sun people learn to care about the “boring” day to day things and to deal with the world. Avoiding cultish groups, drugs and alcohol is also a good idea. They can be swept within the group and effected strongly by substances.

Another thing that can happen is that they lose their dreamy idealism and become hardened by life. They stop believing in love and goodness, they are too hurt. This si a shame because it is society that is wrong- not them. They have love and so much insight to offer the world and by shutting down they are only slowly killing their growth.

It can take years to get there- to this place where you know who you are. Be as forgiving to yourself as you are to others and you will be able to keep going.

I should mention some more pitfalls of this placement in a chart. Among them is that Neptune-Sun people can sometimes “lie”. This one is better understood if you consider they are not really lying. For example, if their tastes and identity is so hard to pin down- it is no life for them to say one thing today and another tomorrow- it is true (for them).

In a romantic relationship they also have a tendency to be very giving- so giving they will give you an illusion of what YOU want.

Again, the trick is knowing that and not getting angry about it. You should know it is their way to love you fully and give you heaven. Over time you will get to know them and they will trust you enough to stop trying to be that walking dream.

The Neptune-Sun person is always evolving and growing; they will need strong beliefs to overcome the hardships they face. Having a strong faith in themselves is what will allow them to shine.

Isn’t it amazing how they have at their disposal the entire spiritual realm- just waiting for them to bring a bit of it down to earth? Or how they can love so unconditionally any person – because they can love humanity?

I think it is.

They simply must learn to ground their self in their actions. When the hard to pin down Neptune is expressed in practical things it stops messing with you.

This can mean so many things like: caring for other people, being of service through your art or by living your life in a true honest way.

***

Every 14 years Neptune changes sign. It is best to also take into account the sign and house Neptune is in your natal chart as is aspects your Sun.

So if you were born between:

1970-1984 Neptune is in Saggittarius

1984-1998 Neptune is in Capricorn

1998-2012 it is in Aquarius

Next look at what king of aspect you have:

Trine or Sextile- the flow of energy between Sun and Neptune is easy here but you may not fully use its power or be aware of how it impacts you. You are a very loving person, open and caring with a creativity that expresses all things Neptune. You may need to work harder at building yourself. You have a lot of fun with all things Neptunian- try not to overindulge

Square and opposition- The flow is hard and it may be you sometimes need to choose or balance between your ego and your higher nature. You are very creative and tend to express Neptune in a stronger fashion then the trine. You are prone to escaping when things get hard and it’s probable that your care taker was in conflict with your true nature. Forgiving and moving on is best.

Quick post: Beyoncé BET Awards review

“Tryna rain, tryna rain on the thunder
Tell the storm I’m new

I’m telling these tears, “Go and fall away, fall away”
May the last one burn into flames”

Beyonce has her Moon in Scorpio and a strong Libra influence that allows her to express it in artistic and visual means that are still pleasing to the public.

So…Orginally this blog started with my own deep fascination with how popular media and music reflected individual birth charts to a T. The fascination hasn’t waned and so I would love to start posting some bits and pieces about pop culture in addition to the informative posts.

This year Beyonce has released her masterpiece of death and rebirth with Lemonade. A recent live performance of the track “Freedom” is just a prime example of everything Scorpio. The visual album tells us a story fo death and rebirth with strong undertones of jealousy and passion. Freedom is a culmination of all the suffering love brings. Scorpio goes through many deep painful emotions until it dies and is reborn again with new understanding.

Beyonce tells us that love does win and with her strong Libra (Venus) placements love is part of the story- but not really. Rather Lemonade is more a story of individual growth and finding the true self- out of the weak ashes is reborn  a strong woman. Sexuality is both the cause of pain- betrayal, possessiveness, and jealousy but also the redeeming power that allows Beyonce to be reborn as an all-powerful goddess with strong Venusian qualities.

Lemonade is a Venusian creation in that it uses images that serve as mirrors of her transformation into that new person. It is also a highly sensual experience full of texture, color merged sound and blunt sexuality. Sexuality that is both very very cultivated (Libra) artificial if you will. The kind where Beyonce has her hair all flowing and her makeup glowing as her curves light up the screen.  And very raw, natural feminine Beyonce  where her eyes (soul-Moon) let us see a more vulnerable side to her. The power of the feminine is a theme very present in all her music but here it takes a dark tone never seen before. Emotions are not meant to be pretty but they gain a new beauty in their service to the rebirth of the self.

In her recent 2016 BET Awards performance of Freedom, we see dancers glide across calm waters as Beyonce starts chanting away her prayer, gaining strength and conviction in her true path: freedom from darkness, freedom from dependence- freedom only gained through love. The kind of love that doesn’t ask you to shut your power away- instead the Scorpio love is a healing storm that burns all evil in it’s path and brings new life. Think about the final scene of Lemonade, it all ends with Blue Ivy, her daughter. Transformed, Beyonce can leave the demonic behind and come back to being a mother and a wife.

Scorpio Moon people go through this types of currents of change all their lives- finally, popular culture gives the rest of us a glimpse into these depths and the rewards of suffering. Beyonce wins and she takes us on a journey towards that triumph.

Analyzing the performance it is all rather straight forward and spectacular. The lighting casts the stage in burning orange and red – almost blood like but reminiscent to the colors of dawn and a new beginning. Red fog welcomes Beyonce and her tribe on stage to the sounds of drums. The crowd helps the ritual along as they step on stage. We first see Beyonce as a shadow cloaked in white light. As the light hits the stage, she and her tribe of dancers get ready for their battle for freedom. Their movements start to become wider and the water is disturbed into little puddles – the change has begun. Beyonce starts singing and as she gains momentum the water is turned into a wavy surface, much harder to control. Water like the Moon and like Scorpio is an emotional current and as such it needs to be surfed on- not controlled.  It seems to me the battle is won only when water stops to be that current danced on and rains starts falling in golden shimmers on top of Beyonce. Water is not a force from below- but from above it is able to wash away the past, the pain, the old self if you will. Washed clean the mistakes and sings bring out the freedom.

The water is still as the dancers glide- they are the spirits that would soon help the witch cast away her enemies. Waters are still and the goddess starts her song but when water rains down it is  a celebration. Therefore when Beyonce sings the verse: “Freedom! Freedom! I can’t move, Freedom, cut me loose!”  The dancers splash across the stage bringing together water from above and below into a new whole. The red light as mentioned before symbolizes both blood- life, birth but also  death- of the old self but perhaps a new beginning and dawn.

Is it beautiful? Or is it disturbing? You judge. Probably it is both and no one said it better: “Beauty is terror”- Donna Tartt. For that another post.

Moon in Sagittarius: Clown of Wisdom

Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.- Oprah Winfrey (Sagg Moon)

In the beginning there was nothing. God said, ‘Let there be light!’ And there was light. There was still nothing, but you could see it a whole lot better.- Ellen Degeneres

If you have the Moon in the sign of Sagittarius, what does it mean? How can one be both a clown and a philosopher?

This is a strange placement for a natal Moon. After all: Moon is about our emotions and inner self and this sign is more concerned with humanity at large- the bigger picture. Ruled by Jupiter emotions take a funny turn for the person. Imagine taking the heart and translating it into a language of logic- it doesn’t always work so well and this is the case when the Moon is in Air or Fire signs. What happens then is that emotions get expressed on a very high level but not in a way that other people would associate traditionally with feelings. It stops being about love, hate, passion, jealousy and become a matter of ideas. The ideas for Saggiterius are very much related to intellectual preoccupations and to the higher mind. Saggiterius is able to reason and find patterns in the world; it finds its opinions to be the truth.  Sagittarius is always searching for truth! That is their mission and it takes them on crazy trips and relationships.  The Moon here is very positive is some ways. First of all, you are probably more concerned with the future or the present and unlike some Moons you are not as prone to get stuck in the past. Therefore, healing and moving forward is your strength. Or you emotions should be cheerful, easy, fun and exciting. You don’t like heavy and intense emotional displays unless it is a game- like in theater, or between good friends. Jupiter expands and gives luck to all it touches- here the inner self is able to see the bigger picture, to stay a free spirit no matter the hardship. You probably enjoy travel or taking small risks and gambles in your private life.

You might enjoy doing strange or funny things for the sake of adventure.  People probably enjoy your company a lot as you bring humor and energy of optimism wherever you go. That is not to say you don’t get depressed or angry- you very much do if something you care about is being challenged. The point is you don’t take it personally and after letting out steam you forget what bothered you and go back to you witty self. On the other hand, people can really get you down! If they display constant heavy and difficult emotions you become a shadow of yourself. Probably you would leave such a situation if you can before it gets this bad.

Saggiterius Moons need to move forward and have freedom to express emotions and ideas. They live by rules they strongly believe in and some are even very traditional in their views- what matters is that they had the freedom to seek out the truth they believe in. They don’t take well to imposed rules and they don’t tolerate opinions they don’t agree with very well. If this is your Moon placement you probably know people sometimes feel like fighting you and what you believe in. Because your philosophy is an emotional matter for you- you will really fight back.  When you were younger you probably did you best to fit in by being the “clown” or the life of the party, even if you were shy you still could pull that off. The older you get the more you allow what matters to you to take hold and feel comfortable and safe in your ideals – the less of a clown you become. A mature Saggiterius Moon is full of wisdom and experience they enjoy sharing with the world.  They are able to use all they learned in their travels of spirit and mind to uplift other people (Oprah Winfrey is a good example).  Your happiness is contagious and your ability to not get too attached to emotions is a gift.

At heart you are an optimist who knows that life is just a game.  In love you need a partner that doesn’t retrain your inner free spirit and allows you to go where you need to go. Someone who enjoys the humor and wit you possess and gives you space to grow would be ideal. For you relationships are about growth and you don’t understand why people stay together if they are miserable. Commitment for you is committing to always change and move forward. Although this is who you are- you might need a more grounded partner to take care of all the little details you are bored with and who brings stability to your racing heart.

You might like a partner who is adventurous but also practical and who shares the same views about the world and humanity. Together you can grow and change for the better. Some people may perceive you as shallow in your emotions and although they may not appreciate what you have to offer perhaps it is a lesson for you to learn to face dangerous and deeper emotional currents in life. Luckily you embrace  a challenge with a smile and it will not nock you down for long.

How the Scorpio Moon goes Mad

The Scorpio wants to feel for the sake of feeling. The feeling is mistaken for truth when in fact, truth is to be found when the waves of emotions die down.

Truth is within you if you could only see the magnificent beauty of your own soul, instead of the endless current of moods you live in, If only…But you crave emotion and it is the only way you know to be alive. Is being alive the same as living?  the answer is no. If this resonated with you at all then continue reading and If not please excuse this moody post.

“Sensitive people usually love deeply and hate deeply. They don’t know any other way to live than by extremes because their emotional thermostat is broken.”
― Shannon L. Adler

Today I want to talk about the complicated emotional makeup of the Moon in Scorpio. This is especially relevant as this placement is all about the experience of emotions in life. I want to write to you- my Moon in Scorpio dear person, as perhaps this might be helpful for you. I know you don’t shy away from gruesome images, hard truths and painful memories. So I trust you will forgive my harshness. Let’s face it, you are a little mad by nature or at least by nurture. Whatever the case, you are prone to at least a few problems which cause you to experience inner turmoil. The minor version of your crazy is that of the obsessive thinker- you never let a thought or idea go once in enters your head, do you? You are prone to attach your thoughts to events in your life and reimagine them over and over. Naturally you are prone various nervous break downs and insomnia. The less minor version of your crazy is all about waves, waves of ups and downs that can make the latest thriller seem tame as a puppy. Something along the lines of a bipolar disorder. You feel deeply they tell you- sure, but it just happens you feel deeply in cycles of joy and desperation. It is not a flat line of depth you experience but a storm that is within you- always.

There is nothing very wrong with you, in fact you are the most gifted individual in terms of how experienced you are in all range of feeling and knowing. But…lets ask a simple question? why are you feeling at all? What is it that you really feel?

Imagine you are sitting in your living room in a comfy chair and a commercial comes up on TV. Something about it makes you feel things. Is that emotion real? Probably not you will say, it was manipulated to make you buy stuff. You are right about that one. The question is what are you buying into every day? The secret truth is you are buying into you Scorpio Moon, the master of emotional manipulation. Thats why you feel bad and thats why things are so wrong. all the F***** time. You were born with the Moon in Scorpio, you are unique! You were born to feel and that is what you truly desire. To reach the depth of human experience and find out the truth. Yes you see- you want to feel because you want to find out truth. But we all know emotions can lie, don’t we? Are feelings really the way to the light? Perhaps for you they are. But not so fast dear…You are going mad. You are obsessed, depressed, sad, lonely, alone, angry. Why does that happen when all you wanted was to feel?

The answer is boring but true. You have a built-in mechanism (Moon) that is able to create emotion out of thin air. You have this need for feeling that isn’t satisfied with daily existence. Anyone else feels things because of events in their life.

They see a tiger? They feel fear. You don’t see a tiger and so you imagine a big scary tiger until you feel scared for you life. Thats is because your true secret fear is that of not feeling- of being empty. That would mean you are dead. Being alive for you is feeling and any moment without it must be the end. So you have this gift, this secret ability to fuel and create feelings for the sake of every breath you take. This is a gift- when it isn’t torturing you to bits. Sadly, for most of you Scorpio Moon’s this ability isn’t used for the creation of amazing art or for saving the world with you convictions. I can think of famous ones who did just that. Instead, you keep needing stimuli within you (it is not something you show) and you self-destruct. It is human nature to find negative emotions and thoughts easy to conjure and maintain. So…that is what happens when you are young. You seek emotions and when it isn’t there you create it while convincing yourself it is real and caused by X or Y.

You are not crazy, you are just walking around with this lava that is about to burn you. I beg you to either admit that you have needs to truth and love and to seek them outside of your own twisted mind, or to at least find release and expression.

Is what you feel caused by an outward event? Is it caused by the memories of the past?

What matters for you is to learn a few things before you can shine like the diamond you are.

First, learn to live in the present and to ride its current that will take you into a health future. Second, learn the usefulness of boundaries so as to differentiate your feelings from the world- you are an empath after all. Third, face your biggest fear- which is fear itself. Last, most important is learn you mission to uncover truth which you can through honest emotions not conjured by artificial means. Be it addictions, relationships or your own glorious mind. You devil.

Style me a Rebel: Pisces/Aqaurius

The counter-culture has always created new and unusual fashions that wider society eventually embraced- until another rule breaking trend came along. These fashions are ruled by two signs- Pisces and Neptune. Today I want to talk about how they paved the way in fashion and how each reflects ideas associated with them in Astrology.

Key words: Neptune: Dreaming, growing, collective desires, the past & Uranus: Changing, creating, invenitng, electricity, brotherhood, the future.

Everything changed in the 1960’s, ruled by Pisces, this influential decade saw the rise of youth movements calling for revolution. It called for society to move away from the material into the spiritual. This Neptunian decade saw the rise of the New-age movement, the sexual revolution and Civil-right movement. All these very Pisces endeavors were followed by some great fashion trends that reflect the era. The Pisces aesthetic is ruled by the planet Neptune, similarly ,it is hard to pin down. The Pisces look is slightly everything- and just when you think you know what it’s about- it becomes something else. Pisces is the chameleon of the zodiac; as such people who embody the Pisces look are capable of creating an illusion. The illusion is usually beautiful and it reflects something that is in fashion in society. hip.jpg

The style is not individualistic but collective- it reflects current trends and desires. The 60’s collective was interested in major Pisces themes. Pisces rules both Neptune/Jupiter and the 12th house. It is interested in social justice and spiritual growth. The fashion was a tool- a statement for these new ideas and religious and political movements. The biggest changes in style happened around the mid-decade and they reflect what Pisces does best:  it dreams of something else- the other world, the invisible, the spiritual. Dreaming of something bigger and better- beyond the material world, the fashion is both anti- material and pro- nature while still being very edgy and political.

It is a style that wants you to use your imagination while at the same time it is not interested in the material- sounds confusing? That is because it is. The Pisces fashion is the kind that holds an “I don’t care” attitude while still wanting to make an impression of all the fantasies, dreams and ideals behind it.  One decade in particular, comes to mind- the Pisces decade of the 60’s. When free love ruled and ideals challenged and created. The fashion was all about not conforming- breaking the rules of society, but it was also about everyone doing it- a collective kind of style. 60's

People were connecting with nature by wearing  less clothes or some peasant inspired clothes in colorful fabrics, usually with natural patterns such as flowers and leaves. Clothes inspired by tribal/oriental and Native American styles also became very popular. The sensory joy of Pisces comes from light colors of blue and green as well as shiny fabrics and jewelry.  The fashion isn’t overtly sexual but it does get your attention with how original or bright it is.

The Hippie style of the 6o’s paved the way to what we have today: the option to wear what we want. Never before was it possible for people to look different from each other and have their original style of choice, no more man walking around with the same haircut and shave, tie and hat. No more women in red lipstick and long skirts. Being different becomes that would pave the way for new styles that prized people who used their dress as a political statement.

Remember when this was a big deal? The Beatles got a lot of attention for their haircuts not just their music.

Beatles-Haircut-1Wearing hair long has many connotations in society-  words like free, wild, crazy all come to mind. Hair is the only part of the body that is in fact, well…dead. We can do whatever we want with it- cut it, dye it, shave it. It is through hair we can express ourselves. Hair is also something we control- by washing and styling it we metaphorically control death. Wild and long hair that becomes closer to its natural state is an act of connection to our animal nature perhaps that is why it is not approved by society. Places like work and school all call for a particular hair- tamed, brushed and controlled hair.

The hippie hair was anything but controlled and it explored boundaries while making a statement. Gradually it paved the way to “rebellious” hair of the next generations.

1980’s fashion

Punk styles are a good example of Pisces moving into Aqaurius the rebel- but it wouldnt be possibal without the decade before. punkAs the decade moved into the age of Aquarius (the exact time of calculation isn’t important, I believe  it was a gradual shift from neptune to Uranus) the new-age did not bye as easly into peace and love mentality. The matirial isn’t rebelled against, instead it is believed thehigher spirtual can be achieved through new inventions. This new world has a new counter-culture: edgier, draker and more concerned with the new.  The Pisces age was still intrested in the past- deriving its style from the tribal and old world, back when it imagined people were more connected to nature. The new age on the other hand, believs in the future- computers, Iphones, space travele.

Neptunian fashions were all about connecting to the ideal- be it political or spiritual. The styles broke the roles but still held a somewhat soft look: soft colors, natural fabrics and an elment of optemism. The 60’s were hopeful for a better future, as the decades moved along and a reality of peace and love didn’t happen- the fashion became harder, edgier and darker. People wanted to embrace whatever newest trend, but of course all new trends build on the past. The 80’s saw he rise of the new Romantic fashion, in contrast to the mainsteram it emphaised the fantastic, imagenery but also let socities devil’s out- the dark side of concoummer culture, dissapointed by the lose of ideals but also ever growing into the future with it’s new technologies. People worked hard and wore shoulder pads, and did aerobics.

Counter-culture was about punk, metal and goth, and thier wonderfule fashion. Like Uranus, the clothes are strange and perhaps over-the top and  wonderfully rebelioues.

The 1980’s fashion was dervied from clup-fashion and the crazy outafits people wore going out. Like the new romantics who  brought the strange out into the open- and they made it look good. Unilke the punk’s they wanted to create glamour, using a genreous mix of big fabrics makeup,ant1.jpg and inspiration from Hollywood movies, they dressed like queens and pirates. Music was also a huge influence- electronic, robotic Uranus ruled music made sure that people dressed up in wonderful costumes that could be noticed even  in the darkness of the club- but there was really now need to dance  to this kind of  music, moving like a robot was fine. The outfits were outrageous and yet influenced mainstream fashion with their dramatic flair. The new romantics also had a darker side, they liked to experiment and go over the top with seeking new adventures, this did not only include new music but also drugs. Along with the new-Romantic fashion came Goth fashion, emerging from the 70’s Punk scene. The clothes like the music became darker but like other trends of the 80’s they were also androgynous. george

Goth fashion allows man to wear feminine kind of clothes and even makeup- this gender bending is what Uranus likes best- to be free of a label and to become an “other” something like an alien creature. This is both a rebellion against established norms but also an experiment- and Uranus love to experiment. The freedom within being the “other” allows room for genius and creativity. Indeed the 80’s may not be remembered as such but they, from science to art it held an amazing amount of creativity and inventiveness.

The 90’s actually saw a bit of a rivival of our Hippie fashion and another wave of optmeism in the future. I don’t have naything praticularly Urenian to add about it- it is all quite electric.

The fashion of Tommorw

Today, we are still very much into reviving 80’s and 90’s fashions but with a clean-cut minimalist twist- that makes it more futuristic. Fashion today is all about free choice and your expressing individuality. Still some trends worth mentioning:

The early 2000’s inspired by 80’s scene saw the rise of Emo fashion, whatever that was, seems to be pretty much like a mix of punk/goth and New Romantic. The last years have seen the rise of a somewhat new creature, the Hipster. Concerned with globalization turning the world into one small boring Island- that needs saving. The Hipster makes sure to be keep individuality alive. What is interesting here is that the Hipster is a product of a new generation, often called generation Y. This generation has the internet- the ultimate Aquarian invention “Bringing people together” with Facebook and YouTube. These folks can and do hide under many names but the gist of what makes them rebels is still undecided. In fact I think the Hipster deserves a post of its own as a product of the New- Age, or something.

Venus in the 8th house/Venus in Scorpio

“That amazing moment when you find out the truth”

Note: though this post describes the development of a Venus in the 8th house it greatly applies to people with charts that involve many/planets in the 8th and aspects to Pluto between the Sun and Venus

***

How does Venus  translate in its opposite house of Scorpio?  Venus as you know, is ruled by Taurus- a strong sensual sign in some ways reminiscent of its opposite Scorpio. After all, both signs know what they want and value and they will do a lot to make sure they have it.  Venus is usually described as the planet of love and beauty, but in truth it is more the planet of values. It so happens that we value is: beauty, luxury and love. But where Venus is placed and how it is aspected will greatly differ in terms of what it is really about.  I would suggest that Venus is more about the sensual material things in life: from trips abroad to fashion, it is very much involved. In the 8th, these material things need to transform into the  spiritual.

The 8th house is a complicated house. I once described it as a dark cave or hole- and I stand by that. And as you know a dark cave or hole is dark only in contrast to all the light outside. If so, any planet in some hidden manner shines through in this house! It’s a complicated ordeal don’t get me wrong- but it’s not a negative one.  Then again it sure can be- as Venus is so sensual that it can be put to the test in a house that deals with other people’s money and sex. That said, let me describe this placement to the best of my ability.

Venus in the 8th development:

Venus in the 8th house has a love problem- their lesson in life is to learn a full all-consuming spiritual love that lets go of power. These are people with a very rich emotional life- no matter if its good or bad they tend to value this intensity that makes them feel alive. This life is usually well hidden or obscured by all sorts of things so other people rarely know the extent of feeling that is there. A Venus in the 8th house was born with love emanating from them in waves- somewhat erotic or misunderstood most likely by them and their families. The type of reactions this Scorpio/8th house Venus arouses from people as children even is a bit freighting. People around them feel confronted with their own hidden needs and so they try to control or become controlled by the young 8th house Venus. The result is that extreme boundaries and issues of power and control are a major theme in any 8th house love life- on that a little  later.

How that plays out differs- a Leo 8th house Venus may be that kid that plays in theater or even dances while the Virgo Venus may become so strict with controlling themselves and their “wrong” emotions and urges  to the point of repression.  The key here is, that almost always their loving nature is not understood by others so much. Like Plutonian people they too can be labeled as dangerous, strange and wrong by parents and teachers or society. Why? They don’t know their own love nature and so they accept what other people tell them- that they are a little too intense and a little wild or maybe even crazy.

As teenagers, they naturally become most aware and awakened to their potential for emotional understanding- as they usually have a high intelligence in this regard, they know that things are complicated early on, and during this stage of life they become somewhat preoccupied with this range of emotions that can be labeled as “dark”.  It is common for them to be interested in anything the subculture had to offer as long as it is also somewhat beautiful in a broken or poetic kind of way. They want to learn and feel everything and therefore, keep finding themselves in situations that are a little extreme or overwhelming. They form relationships that offer them the experience of deep emotional intimacy.  The thing is that teenagers though prone to dramatic behaviors and mood swings, don’t always have the capacity for a relationship not based on superficial things that is so fully needed by the Venus in the 8th house. At first, they may try very hard to fit into those superficial roles- they do know how to style themselves in that way that makes them popular. After all they are so into the rebel counter culture. If they manage to find their place in that way that is great but chances are they will find most relationships lack the meaning and loyalty they so value.  It is during their teenage years they begin to reconsider all they learned as children about their ability to give and receive love.  By their love of rebel culture, they allow themselves not to control the intense urges for intimacy. You see- it is all just a tool for that end and most likely they don’t agree with the values of the counter- culture.  They simply use the fashion, music and rhetoric of a darker nature to allow some healthy self-expression.

The way this plays out greatly differs- some 8th house Venus teens allow the feelings to rise through art, books or even sports. They may hide in their room for hours writing suicidal poetry and listening to Gothic music. Others take a more risky road that involves going out into the world without protection- as protecting their heart is not going to allow them to delve deep into the human love they yearn to experience. Whether in fantasy or reality, most 8th house Venus has stormy teenage years that involved some major transformation as a result of a relationship or even a tragedy.

The mature 8th house Venus is a person that finally cultivated their attraction to the fatal with a high level of ability to give and receive erotic energy. The best way to illustrate this is by the stages described above. The first stage involved a denial of one’s ability to love and be loved in the way that as needed. Even if they were very loved by people- just not in  a way that felt good.  They may have learned that when they love another- be it a parent, brother or friends- it is wrong. They learned that they take too much- ask for too much and give something that others understand as erotic instead of pure. By erotic I mean it aroused some dark emotional currents in their loved ones and as a result they were deeply rejected or used- all this happens on some very invisible level and chances are it happens in the Venus 8th house person’s soul- which makes it a very real experience for them. This description is also true in some way about other planets in the 8th house and major aspects to Pluto (I wish to write a post just about that one day).

In addition to having some complicated emotional needs and a lot of lessons about being loved and loving others. Venus in the 8th house is greatly related with dealing with other people’s money and possessions. These people may not arouse other people to be nice to them but it arouses them to trust them with what they own. Interesting right? In part I believe that the great emotional needs they had translated into material and sensual needs- more easily answered!  Even if they grew up very poor they still knew how to find something or receive what they wanted from others- as long as it was material. The same intense and (sorry but it’s the best word) erotic energy they had allowed them to attract luxury into their lives. Luxury could mean just having a little more than those around them – so it always depends on that. I think that learning to use the same charm for unselfish means is the real lesson here.

They are very good with making something out of nothing and can really make money grow.  They are generally very good at attracting the luxury of this world as long as they don’t own it. For example, it’s not uncommon for them to work in charity organizations where they end up collecting the highest donations. Anything they touch with their senses becomes suddenly more valuable. This at times can be true of people – they can elevate someone’s status by being with them! In all cases they are a little behind the scenes and the success largely depends on how much of their emotions they invest.

This brings us to the topic of relationships and marriage. Here the genders should be separated. The women with the 8th house Venus need and want someone who can offer them a cocktail of intoxicating romance which at times is toxic.  What this drug looks like depends on the sign but in all cases a need for a special kind of intimacy is present.  They want someone who is strong enough to accept their love without fear- and be consumed by it. Someone they can trust not to use that against them in anyway. They learned that love is all or nothing- because when younger their love was either rejected and feared or accepted and abused. The best partner for them is someone who can appreciate what they offer while still being strong enough to not let all the passion and desire become too much- In other words someone who is capable of a soul bond but also of setting boundaries. Can you imagine someone like that? Strong enough to let go and keep it together at the same time, now that is magic.

Women here need to be very careful that they marry for the right reasons- as they may give up on the above ideal and settle for someone who is only socially powerful. They may confuse money and power with spiritual strength. As they naturally have that something about them that attracts powerful (controlling) people who just happen to be rich. I’m sorry to say but the low current of such placement tends to marry for money. Unlike the 10th house Venus it is not a real need- they don’t need the luxury they just need to feel protected enough to bond with another person.

Man with this Venus need a partner that is a little complex- someone who is mysterious. They too should be careful they marry or commit for the right reasons- they need to learn to be connected to their hearts desire even if it is hard to understand.

In conclusion, the Venus in the 8th house is that person who will transform themselves many times. They go through stages when all they can do is take from others- and moments of pure despair when one they give isn’t appreciated. They love with passion that is powerful, soulful, poetic and sensitive to the hidden aspects of life.

They can teach others to really enjoy being in love even if it doesn’t feel good. Their love is going to have an element of pain in it- always, but also healing for all the people who were not loved and accepted- and most of all they learn to love themselves with all their faults. As they are truly beautiful in their way of loving even the broken things that can e made whole again. They see the broken parts in other people but they paint them with a fire os passion and rebirth…So they transform the person they love and themselves forever.

Venus in Gemini- Friendship never ends

And I’m only here
To bring you free love
Let’s make it clear
That this is free love
No hidden catch
No strings attached
Written by Venus in n Gemini Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode)

Venus in Gemini is one of the most romantic and exciting placements for the planet of love and beauty.  I would like to dispute many of the common views of this placement.

For example, you may have heard that Venus in Gemini people get bored easily and  don’t like emotionally heavy relationships- which for some reason leads to the paranoid conclusion that they are likely to cheat.  I don’t agree with any of this nonsense, in fact Gemini is one truly romantic sign for Venus to be.  Venus at the end of the day rules not only love but also our values- what we hold dear in our hearts.

A Gemini Venus is looking for a very specific kind of relationship and won’t settle for anything less than a true soulmate match.  Yes, they will not stay in a relationship that doesn’t hold on to this ideal- and they may even exit without a second glance at their broken hearted partner. But it isn’t out of some malice- they just believe in that one true partnership and they have no doubt you should do so too!

The kind of love they look for is a partnership of two equals that can keep each other interested- leading to growth, a partnership of two that are made stronger and better by being together.

They have a deeply hidden fantasy of this person and relationship. It usually evolves a lot of play, adventure, excitement and sweet moments where they get to exchange kind words with their loved one.  There is something almost childlike about how they view romantic love- they want to it to be cute and fun and full of “togetherness”. As long as their lover is by their side they are happy- no need for money or crazy nights of passion. They just want someone who is sweet, kind and fits their secret ideal of a perfect friend.

Many of them had a friend like that when they were little- and they tend to look for a similar person when they grow up. They tend to express love and care in an inconsistent manner – some day they are all sunny and bring you flowers for breakfast and the next they might disappear on you completely to become engaged in some strange activity. In that sense they are indeed slightly hard to rely on- but once you get used to their comings and goings you will notice a repeating pattern.  They usually engage with you for a while and then become entranced by something else- but if they love you they always come back.

If you try and scold them for their behavior you will only get sad puppy eyes or some long funny story. It’s best to accept them as they are and enjoy your moments of freedom.

A jealous partner would make Gemini Venus people sad and lost. They become confused when their “best friend” doesn’t allow them the same thing which the give with ease:  freedom to discover and change. If you want to keep them happy it is best to use sweet talk or simply hold their hand.  In some ways this Venus is truly poetic and appreciates the world of theater, poetry, literature or even cheap romance novels. They like to be swift in their actions and don’t like to linger too long on one thing. They probably would solve most arguments with ease with the use of a sharp tongue and a touch of humor. They are very charming in their ability to shift and change and they are never at a loss for words of love.

The Venus in Gemini is the kind of prince   who would exaggerate his heroism for the sake of the story, he the kind of guy who will kiss your eyelids every morning but forget your birthday. She is  the princess who asks you to slay the dragon for some action – but as long as you’re cute she doesn’t care if you actually do. This is the girl who looks innocent but is a dare devil at heart- and she wants you to respect that. They both may sound untruthful at times- but this is because they are inventing the truth as they go along- it is true for them! They can create the perfect love story and tell all their friends about how you met. In fact they love to create a fantasy around your relationship: how you met and how it was love at first sight.  They need you to like and enjoy them more then they need you to love them. Love is friendship that never ends.

In some ways they cannot accept the truly painful emotions that a lover may hold within them. To them if a relationship is good- their partner should feel good and that’s the end of it. It a lover feels pain, hurt, confusion- they feel something must be wrong with the relationship.  To make them understand it is best to try and be rational about your emotions and talk and talk some more.

They are deeply caring and loyal to you (once they are) and would probably figure an unorthodox way to make you happy. Women with Venus in Gemini are very easygoing in love. They will charm you with their ability to just be with you in the moment- having fun. They would also be amazing in communicating their appreciation of you.  If you are a good listener, have a sense of humor and don’t accept any promises from them- it should go wonderfully. It is important for them that you don’t fill their lives with negative energy and situations.

They might stay at first out of curiosity (curiosity killed the cat was about them) but soon enough they will see you are no friend to them.  Men with Venus in Gemini tend to be able to charm the opposite sex with ease, as they are very good with words and presenting an image of playfulness.  At heart they are yearning for that soulmate- they know who the perfect girl is. She will be that person who would always be by their side- there to see them make amazing discoveries but also stupid jokes. They want a girl who embodies a spirit of cleverness but who is also “the girl next door” in many ways.  They like girls who are both ordinary but at the same time slightly quirky and strange.

Both want a friendship that will last a lifetime- they may believe in that. Until they find it- they would be big flirts that are still searching for the one. If you have a crush on either all you have to do is be sweet and unthreatening in your approach- let them chase you not the other way round.

Some good matches for this Venus (of course the whole chart should be looked at) are for man: women with Venus in Aries, Libra and Taurus and for women man with Venus in Aquarius, Sagittarius and Scorpio.

Tips for lovers : speak up, be your crazy self, be your own person.

They can benifit from a more sobre and stable partner as long as they ahve somthing starnge or intresting to offer.

Saturn: The Dark Superhero

Up to this point, I avoided writing about Saturn. It wasn’t a thought out decision perhaps- but if was something I felt more comfortable with. Saturn is a very tricky planet to write about- not so much because it deals with the most difficult lessons in our life, but because it isn’t easy to pin down.  The reason for this is that fear in general, is not something we understand until we overcome it.  It is a basic accepted “fact” (starting with Freud) that until we know the reason for our fear we won’t be able to get rid of it. Saturn is also the grown up in out chart- it is the responsible adult that tells us we must work hard, play less and maybe then we might turn out good people.

***

A strong Saturn is one that can indeed teach as much about life  even if he is not the one that makes things easy for us.  it usually isn’t  a pleasant experience,  when someone shows me their chart I make sure to study their Saturn first so I can understand where their pain and difficulty arises from. Saturn is ruled by both Aquarius and Capricorn- two signs that work hard to build institutions on this earth, erect governments and punish the criminals.

Saturn is a bit of a superhero really! A dark hero though he may be. He saves us from making the same mistakes again and again – like a wise elder that reminds us that fire is hot and we shouldn’t stick our little hands where they don’t belong.

Saturn isn’t mean- He is just knows so much he has not time for small talk and smiles. We usually feel our Saturn in our childhood- all the things we never chose, like our parents and teachers.  We may also feel Saturn in our relationship with society- when we feel alone in a room full of people- this is our hero in black, teaching us to be our own person. When we feel we don’t deserve love and that things are too hard to deal with- it’s him again.

Think about it: every person on this earth is born with some inner and outer restrictions that serve a purpose. It isn’t always obvious- for example a child born to a very rich family may face his restrictions as a result of that privilege. A small girl born with Saturn in the 6th house- will have to work like a grown up- becoming a child star.

Saturn also rules “time”- how so? As it rules things that last: long-term relationships as well as actual social constructs. It is very traditional at heart- not a liberal hero. It wants to use the past so it can build on top of it. This includes your past memories and things which serve as a base for who you are.  Things that last require work and commitment, like a marriage for example- if both parties are not ready to commit and are able to do things which they find hard- the marriage isn’t going to work.  Any long-term commitment requires sacrifice of the ego- making place for another person in your life. Isn’t that a good thing? Of course it is- if you understand that the commitment will lead to a real strong relationship. If you don’t understand that, then indeed Saturn may seem like an evil doer. The trick is to always see the goal ahead- not the path. Saturn wants you to know that you are going somewhere, building, creating and growing. Marriage is a great example for how Saturn works:

Marriage is a great example for how Saturn works: Two people meet and are attracted to each other. They have fun going on dates and having romantic moments and adventures together.  That time in the relationship is almost perfect- both think that the other person is perfect and more than that- perfect for them. They say they are in love and they feel it too. Then one day something happens- maybe one of them does something that hurts or bothers the other person and maybe they even fight, or maybe one of them loses their jobs or becomes ill- the Saturn domain. In happens in any relationship but chances are they both think it means something about that one specific relationship- the one that stops being all fun and games. It can be a painful discovery- suddenly your love is not the perfect person you thought. Instead, they are weak, flawed- they are human!   Suddenly the relationship isn’t perfect- you have to find a job, deal with the illness. Saturn at this point is your best compass- it will show you how to deal best with all the hard times and how to build a new and stronger foundation. If you manage the good times will return- they will not be perfect but they will be real and meaningful- they will be real love. A commitment and understanding- a marriage of souls.  Saturn is a very unromantic planet- but a romantic at heart for he can lead you to actually realize your dreams in the real world.

If you manage do learn Saturn’s moves in battle then the good times will return, they will not be perfect, but they will be real and meaningful- they will be real love. Saturn is a very unromantic planet- but a romantic at heart for he can lead you to actually realize your dreams in the real world.

He does protect you more than you know- from becoming less than you should be.

So face your fears- knowing they are just the path not the goal and that the end of your journey is beautiful. You will stand taller and stronger having overcome Saturn and having built something lasting.

Sun in the 9th house :The Spiritual Tourist

Key words- self-growth  (Jupiter)

Tip: break free from your ideas- develop new ones

It is my opinion that planets in the 9th house are special planets, as the 9th house signifies a whole new level of mental and spiritual development. The 8th house if you remember is a very dark house- symbolized by a dark hole, cave or the unconscious mind. The 9

The 9th in contrast, is a very bright house- like an open plain where ideas can grow and develop without being hindered by Scorpio issues such as sexual desire or fear. The Sun is our ego and sense of self- therefore its placement is very important if we want to know who we are in this life.  If you have your Sun in the 9

If you have your Sun in the 9th house you are a tourist at heart. Your mission in life is to develop your identity through Philosophical means- seems a bit vague? Maybe because it is.  You probably started this life with very strong opinions about the world. Many 9th house sun people grow in religious families or to parents that had ideals and opinions which they made sure to pass on to their children. Maybe you grew up in an institution with a strong ideology or were strongly influenced by people with ideals and vision. Either way- you thought that good and evil are a well-defined concept. As you grew older you naturally very curious mind required you to learn more. The way you learn depends on many factors but generally, you do this with the sheer power of reason. You’re the type of person who may read study and travel as much as they can.  You have a strong inner need to develop a whole puzzle of ideas and opinions which you can call your own and which define who you are. In many ways – you don’t know who you are until you are older. As I said, your ideas are first influenced by grown-ups and most likely your father (Sun- ego) has made you. Therefore you must embark on a journey of learning that is very personal but also very fun- It is not a painful process.

Sun in the 9th house people have a thing for cultures that is exciting to note. They adore traveling and talking to people from all over the world. Some even marry foreigners and speak a dozen languages. Anthropology, philosophy, law and religious studies are all fields of interests to them. Though some may choose a less conventional path of thinking and invent their own new ideas, but this is rare because Sagittarius rules the 9th house- and he at heart is more traditional.Anyway, the highest self of this people needs to be in touch with the world at large or it will sink into self-loathing. Getting out into the world to study and meet the full force of history is necessary.

You are probably a very open minded person and are not afraid of anything different. In fact- you love anything different! You love people, the world and have a whole pool f optimism to share. But its not the foolish kind of joy, Rather you know so much of everything that you can see the joke.

Isn’t life funny and strange?

You know the past and you look into the future into a better world- but never throwing away tradition and the mistakes of history. Your true self is connected to the ones of all of humanity and is able to share your knowledge with the world. As long as you develop you individual self and don’t become too rigid in traditional ways of thinking.
