A natal chart with an emphasized first quadrant (houses 1-4) indicates a person with a strong sense of Self, heavily tied to their roots, family, tradition or culture. This is a very authentic type: “what you see is what you get.” Sometimes they find it hard to separate their try self ground external voices and factors.
A native with an emphasis on the second quadrant is usually hard working, practical, tends to be responsible and strong willed. They often have to overcome a lot of struggles and that builds a strong character that knows what they want. They tend towards some pessimism and low moods but also career success.
A person with full third quadrant is the most mature type. They tend to know who they are and be independent in their opinions. They usually have a rich intellectual life, enjoy learning and traveling and don’t compromise. They are late bloomers but eventually become unique in their chosen path. They like to feel different m.
A person with a strong fourth quadrant tends to be extremely creative, talented and often charismatic. They also struggle the most with feeling misunderstood and isolated. They are naive like a child but also wise and spiritually evolved. They may struggle with their place in the world while also having the most chance at artistic or scientific success.
Today, I would like to share with you some indicators of fame in the natal chart.
I had the privilege of working with actors and artists and the question is always: “how do we brand ourselves so that we can become successful (famous)?
I love doing those types of readings!
We always try and strengthen certain parts of the natal chart to achieve the right public image for the person.
Now, on to some general surface level indicators of fame.
My observation is that certain points in the chart need to connect with people on a large scale. You can also see if a person is famous for their image or for something they created or invented.
Usually, the ruler of the first house is going to be high up in the chart in the 10th, 11th or 12th house.
A pronounced Neptune or Jupiter can also show connecting with the collective or building a brand or image that speaks to people on a large scale. The image of the person or the product they created.
Therefore, even if the person is shy, timid and private they can still be famous if they connect with the social moment.
I thought it would be fun to analyze several charts of famous people for indicators.
A chart like no other.
In the above chart we see very clear indicators of fame.
First, we have Neptune conjunct the ascendant. Planets in the first house always give a certain charisma and stand out to others. Neptune rules glamour, magic, mystery and the acting profession.
Neptune rising shows the person can create an image that people aspire to or become charmed by. It’s like throwing fairy dust magic all over yourself. No matter the private Self which maybe feel and be very different.
Next, we have ruler of the first house, the Sun, conjunct Mercury in the 11th house. This means the person would be well known socially and will be known for all things Mercury: They way they move when they communicate, hand gestures, dancing, singing and talking in a distinctive voice.
Gemini is playful and young…Marilyn adopted that young baby-blond persona and only when she did her success sky rocketed.
We also have Venus high up in the chart and in last degrees of Aries (sex appeal and attraction). The Venus is almost rolling towards her public image of Taurus: Feminine, sensual, warm, seductive and sweet.
The ruler of Venus, the planet Mars is in Pisces which strengthens the Neptunian influence or ability to glamour (conceal) her Venus in beauty and allure.
Sadly, we also see how Neptune in apposition to Moon-Jupiter (yet another point for fame by the way) culminates in the apex of Saturn. The T-square shows troubles at home (Saturn is in the fourth house) and a lack of inner stability.
Neptune is out of this world and needs balance. The chart shows huge Neptunian fame but little stability.
Neptune also rules other states of consciousness (drugs) and lack of boundaries with others.
This year is BIG time on shifts and transformation. The main change I see for ALL of us is our shift in perception of our social belonging. This shift will take place due to both Saturn entering the sign of Pisces in March and Pluto in Aquarius. In addition, some pretty explosive Aries energy will also emphasize individualism and the need to pave a lonely but honest path in the world.
Why? Because Saturn in Aquarius lessons called us to work on being interesting and creative enough to even be part of the larger social order and the online community.
Let us start with the Saturn in Pisces energy. Unlike Saturn in Aquarius, it finally allows us to let go of needing to fit in agroup. Up until now we all had to work hard on our relationships if we wanted them to be mature. Now we can finally rip the fruit of our labor and take a step back to look inwards, focus on our inner world and dreams while still maintaining our friendships and social status. All our hard work with Saturn in Aquarius left us feeling like we deserve support and a place in society only IF we make an effort. The efforts can relate to fitting into social groups, online communities and creating a social image that other people find interesting enough to even pay attention to. Meanwhile, Saturn in Pisces will require us to let go of caring what others think of us and by doing so we can find real connections and a sense of social belonging. Self-promotion is no longer of benefit. Being authentic and of service with what we each have to offer others will become the new “cool.”
In March we will reconnect with our dreams for the future and gain enough courage to follow them. As a result, we will step into our own unique path and form relationships from a more authentic and empathic space. We will value authenticity in others and when we see someone else following a dream, we will feel inspired rather than wanting to cut them down.
Neglected hobbies, dreams, creative projects, hopes and secret fantasies are all coming this spring to remind us we are never alone and have a rich inner world that needs to be remembered.
Pluto in Aquarius will be less soft and fluffy but will help us gain enough desire to transform our lives. Pluto will make sure that the relationships or identities we hold will be transformed even if it means they first must end.
In 2023 Pluto and Saturn speak of letting go of a false sense of identity in the social order. The mask needs to be destroyed and your true Self needs to shine. The first step will require a lot of bravery for you and I suggest making changes until May. From May onwards we will feel more stable in our new skin and in the world.
What a beautiful Venus she is! She is the queen of the forest, sitting on her green throne, surrounded by blooming flowers and the promise of summer fruit.
Skip for Venus in Taurus songs and movies.
This Venus is so fascinating in how feminine and firm, solid and principled she is. She is not soft like Venus in Cancer, nor swift like her Gemini sister. No, she is the queen of nature with her head held high and eyes wide open. Venus in Taurus is symbolic of new life and spring. She promises something good to come as the months turn warm. As such, her color is green and her nature is abundant with the promise of enjoyable summer months, delicious fruit, fresh water and the birth of animals. The spring began with her younger sister Venus in Aries, symbolizing vitality and the seed of life. But without Venus in Taurus, those seeds will never bloom and turn into something solid and worthy. As such, the greatest gift of Venus in Taurus is to take what is still new and tend to it until it turns into a solid form. She is connected to her roots and the earth and this gives her the strength and patience to grow diamonds out of rubble.
You see…Venus in Taurus becomes very sad when she has no materials to solidify into something beautiful. It is not that she wants riches and mountains of material things…Those are static and worthless to her. Instead, she wants something that is good at its core (seed) which she can turn into beautiful and life-giving objects. The principle of life guides her to only enjoy that which has good quality, good genetics, suitable materials and long-lasting form. She would not be happy with the treasures given to her unless she could do something more with them. Therefore, expensive objects and “expensive” people offer her no value on their own. For you see…Her shadow side is the sign of Scorpio and secretly, she is driven by the need to transform. She wants to allow her willpower to play upon a person, an object or an idea until it becomes something with a beating heart. She hates plastic. She hates fakes. She will not enjoy living in a gilded cage.
Her love of comfort and beauty may propel her to accept an easy life but she will not be satisfied. The shadow of Scorpio would rear its dangerous head to possess what she does not own. She would realize that all the easy riches and people in her life do not belong to her and she cannot make them grow into something natural. Natural like what? You may ask. Well, natural like love and the divine. To her, noting is beautiful unless it can also offer the experience of nature in all its glory. She will be a miserable queen living in a cold frozen castle. And so, you see many women with Venus in Taurus working hard, building businesses and caring for their families. They are least likely to stay home and not work and least likely to marry early.
Taurus-Scorpio conflict, between spring and winter, life and death.
A contradiction! You may think. Isn’t Venus in Taurus the most feminine of them all? Shouldn’t she, in fact, have no trouble in love? Oh, but she does have trouble. She wants to find a balance between luxury and heart, quality and comfort, long-lasting and natural…How can she have no trouble in a world that places no value on that which takes time? She doesn’t want to receive easy gifts or a life partner who falls at her feet. This may seem too suspicious to her. If Saturn aspects her heart (Venus), he will prefer durability and maturity over empty promises. If Neptune plays her strings, she may become the elusive promise herself a princess of beauty and dreams no man can ever touch. But remember, she is a survivor and to some extent, would not be able to walk away if a spider caught her in is a trap. She may be late to marry but also late to walk away. Why is that? Well, her job is to make things grow and growth requires stages and time. Will a gardener abandon his tree before it brings fruit? It goes against the nature of things. Venus in Taurus works only according to the rules of nature. She likes growth and endings are her greatest fear. However, secretly the ability to walk away and start over belongs to her. She needs to view the process of leaving a bad relationship, job, and lifestyle…As a form of growth and transformation. She can draw on the power of Scorpio to hold her head high and walk away to find more fertile earth for her dreams.
This all comes down to Venus in Taurus finding value in herself. This may become her greatest struggle because in some ways, she cannot separate her own value from that which she owns. She is the principle of life, which makes it hard for her to see where she fits in the web of all other living creatures. Something about her is so connected to the beating heart of nature that she does not always recognize the destructive side of it. It will take time for her to see that nature can also be cruel and so can be people.
You see…She is naïve at heart and cannot imagine that even ugly things are not in fact, beautiful in potential. As a child, she is love, but she is a hard mountain as an adult. She fears losing her security and even more she fears that her own ability to love will come to an end. Only when she learns to care for herself in small gentle ways will she start to love herself with the same open heart and warm hands that she came into the world with. For she is warm, sensual and kind…Even her cruelty is somewhat beautiful in the way a storm or a volcano can be. It does not last and she would always prefer to build something over the option to destroy. This makes her vulnerable but also stubborn…Her voice always whispers that life needs to go on and there is no other option. Nature never stops even if it rains. Her instinct is to enjoy life and gather new resources to she grow in her hands. Thus, she naturally attracts comforts, beautiful objects and even people. Her life, even in poverty, is somehow surrounded by a whisper of graceful poetry and the riches long gone. She stands there like a queen taken down from her throne, her silk dress torn apart into little strings of silver and gold. Yet, she stands as proud and as natural…She is a queen even if you take it all from her. Why? Because her pride and power rest not on her comforts and riches but on her ability to give value and beautify. She is the type of woman who can make a broken home fill with cozy light and the aromas of a good meal. She is the life-giver, which makes her superior to anyone who attempts to put her down. How can anyone compete? She is not reliant on anyone or anything. She only expresses life as it runs through her. And sometimes life is bloody and dangerous and painful…But it is still only an expression that is a season. She the Taurus woman knows that seasons come and go, which makes her wise and old and sometimes tired. Her greatest pride is her family and children. She is the type to be humble about everything else. She has so much comforts in her life because she knows how to enjoy them to the last drop. She is the type of eat the one piece of chocolate and savor it. She is the type to stop on her walk home to take in the wind or the changing weather. Her sensitivity to life is also so sensitive to change…So she enjoys it all while it lasts. Even the hardest to please Venus in Taurus is a grateful one. Her gratitude towards life and pleasure attracts more comforts into her life. She should never be bitter because she was made to enjoy with all her senses. Fear of endings and not having enough make her weak and child-like. Her maturity is strange because it is not based on giving or taking…It is based on the ability to just be and appreciate life. When she is happy, people around her are more real and solid…They become solid and present in their bodies. She is the type to talk into the room and everyone can suddenly taste their food with greater sharpness and hear the music as if it was louder. This is her magic and she gives it for free…When she happy. Therefore, her prime role is to find her inner comfort and stay within it. The gifts she bestows on other people will follow. She should never aim to prove her worth to anyone. It would be a ridiculous thing to do. Her value is self-sustained.
Moonstruck (1988) is a romantic comedy starring Cher (Taurus Sun, Capricorn Moon) and Nicholas Cage (practically. Capricorn/Saturn ruled). The comedy is not only hilarious and warm with a. focus on family and several generation but embodies the transformation of Taurus and finding love later in life.
The dark side of Taurus is best described in Lilly Allens song The Fear. Mindless consumption, plastic, desire for fame and money…All of which are social issues that the Venus in Taurus principle reflects back times four. The hungry Scorpio shadows Taurus and hides the need for real quality love.
I wanna be rich and I want lots of money I don’t care about clever I don’t care about funny I want loads of clothes and I want loads of diamonds I heard people die while they are trying to find themAnd I’ll take my clothes off and it will be shameless ‘Cause everyone knows that’s how you get famous I’ll look at the sun and I’ll look in the mirror We’re on the right track, yeah, I’m on to a winnerI don’t know what’s right and what’s real anymore And I don’t know how I’m meant to feel anymore When do you think it will all become clear? ‘Cause I’m being taken over by the fear
Lilly Allen used to work as a florist, Taurus Sun, Libra Moon.
Another singer that exemplfies the critique of Venus in Taurus is Lana Del Ray a native Venus in Taurus:
I want money, power and glory I want money and all your power, all your glory Alleluia, I wanna take you for all that you got Alleluia, I’m gonna take them for all that they got
Venus in Taurus, Leo Moon
Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp both Venus in Taurus natives in the most Taurus movie ever made Chocolate (2000).
“I sell dreams, small comforts, sweet harmless temptations to bring down a multitude of saints crashing among the hazels and nougatines” ― Joanne Harris, Chocolat
Actress Liv Tyler, Venus-Mars in Taurus in 11th house.
Grimes, musician, Venus in Taurus with Scorpio rising (confirmed birth time).
When the sensitive Moon is conjunct Uranus in the composite chart the boundaries of familiarity between the couple, tend to dissolve easily. This aspect is very common among people who tend to become friendly and open with each other right away. As a result, this will be an exciting and often fun connection that feels like anything is possible. The obvious downside is that the two people don’t really know one another yet and the fast disclosure can make them feel vulnerable. There is something about Uranus that strips away the formality that is usually part of dating. In fact, all the outer planets tend to strip away the superficial aspects of our personalities so we gain a higher perspective. Pluto can strip flesh straight away to the bones of our fears and pain, meanwhile, Uranus can strip away the conventions and costumes we adopted in our lives. Because Uranus is all about the larger future-oriented meaning of things the couple can be completely uninterested in dealing with the boring domestic details of their lives or work. Instead, the Moon-Uranus couple would prefer visionary pursuits that make them feel alive and future-oriented. Tradition and convection tend to be something they are both redefining together in the relationship. It is therefore not fair to say that the couple doesn’t care about formality, culture, convention or traditional relationships! They care a lot about understanding and redefining the meaning of the unsaid rules of love and domesticity. Some couples can in fact, adopt “traditional rules” as a form of rebellion. I, therefore, disagree that Moon-Uranus is the unstable combination that it is often described as.
Independence is fun, especially when there’s a beloved waiting in the wings, and freedom makes you a more interesting person. Having separate lives brings fresh air into a relationship. – Deborah Moggach
Moon-Uranus CAN create commitment problems but not because it fears commitment. The core problem with Moon-Uranus is the fast self-disclosure that tends to burn the couple out. We all have very vulnerable parts in our psyche that can’t survive being discovered so fast by a complete stranger. The Moon-Uranus couple becomes so excited about the relationship and finding a like-minded person. They tend to be very honest with one another even if it’s better to take some time before dropping the walls down. Emotional honesty is a wonderful thing for any relationship however Uranus is a visionary not an empath…The people can be honest about their emotions in an intellectual way that lacks the emotional intimacy that breeds trust. They can both feel like oversharing information and rushing the relationship. They just trust each other with no reason except for an elusive electric feeling that the person in front of them is a kindred spirit. They could be right! But many times, people end up feeling they said too much or jumped into living with someone before they really had the time to build trust through actions. I therefore suggest the Moon-Uranus couple does not assume that anything they share is appropriate. They both need to acknowledge that emotions are a vulnerable area of disclosure. If they want to share and envision what they have in common (which is always a lot) they can keep the topic intellectual and avoid secrets or personal history. If the Moon-Uranus couple manages to pass the sixth-month mark (or however long it takes) and are still as excited about their connection it is time to consider their personal habits. Moon rules our unconscious habits and also the feminine aspect of the relationship. Moon-Uranus suggest that the home would be a very energetic space where the individuality of the couple is important. The couple would want their daily lives to reflects their hobbies and ideals. They can also enjoy moving or changing their physical space so that something exciting to look forward to is always just around the corner. Ultimately Moon-Uranus suggests the couple is intelligent, high-minded and willing to grow. They can build a wonderful friendship and an interesting life that contributes to their community. The couple must always strive to see the bigger picture of their involvement with one another – it is never just about the couple but about their social role and mission. It is really important they remember that and not focus on personal weaknesses and vulnerabilities that are revealed too early. The couple needs to value their relationship as something unique and larger than life. Both people can do this if they value the individuality and equality of their partners. If they share hobbies and social causes of some sort, they can gain much harmony even in hard times. It is pointless to ever avoid a Moon-Uranus relationship but it works best when you just let t speak for itself without pre-written expectations. Enjoy the tremendous honesty and sense of excitement of this aspect because it can open you to a new expression of Self in relation to the world.

Aspects will change the meaning of the Moon-Uranus position in the composite.
Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.- Oprah Winfrey (Sagg Moon)
In the beginning there was nothing. God said, ‘Let there be light!’ And there was light. There was still nothing, but you could see it a whole lot better.- Ellen Degeneres
If you have the Moon in the sign of Sagittarius, what does it mean? How can one be both a clown and a philosopher?
This is a strange placement for a natal Moon. After all: Moon is about our emotions and inner self and this sign is more concerned with humanity at large- the bigger picture. Ruled by Jupiter emotions take a funny turn for the person. Imagine taking the heart and translating it into a language of logic- it doesn’t always work so well and this is the case when the Moon is in Air or Fire signs. What happens then is that emotions get expressed on a very high level but not in a way that other people would associate traditionally with feelings. It stops being about love, hate, passion, jealousy and become a matter of ideas. The ideas for Saggiterius are very much related to intellectual preoccupations and to the higher mind. Saggiterius is able to reason and find patterns in the world; it finds its opinions to be the truth. Sagittarius is always searching for truth! That is their mission and it takes them on crazy trips and relationships. The Moon here is very positive is some ways. First of all, you are probably more concerned with the future or the present and unlike some Moons you are not as prone to get stuck in the past. Therefore, healing and moving forward is your strength. Or you emotions should be cheerful, easy, fun and exciting. You don’t like heavy and intense emotional displays unless it is a game- like in theater, or between good friends. Jupiter expands and gives luck to all it touches- here the inner self is able to see the bigger picture, to stay a free spirit no matter the hardship. You probably enjoy travel or taking small risks and gambles in your private life.
You might enjoy doing strange or funny things for the sake of adventure. People probably enjoy your company a lot as you bring humor and energy of optimism wherever you go. That is not to say you don’t get depressed or angry- you very much do if something you care about is being challenged. The point is you don’t take it personally and after letting out steam you forget what bothered you and go back to you witty self. On the other hand, people can really get you down! If they display constant heavy and difficult emotions you become a shadow of yourself. Probably you would leave such a situation if you can before it gets this bad.
Saggiterius Moons need to move forward and have freedom to express emotions and ideas. They live by rules they strongly believe in and some are even very traditional in their views- what matters is that they had the freedom to seek out the truth they believe in. They don’t take well to imposed rules and they don’t tolerate opinions they don’t agree with very well. If this is your Moon placement you probably know people sometimes feel like fighting you and what you believe in. Because your philosophy is an emotional matter for you- you will really fight back. When you were younger you probably did you best to fit in by being the “clown” or the life of the party, even if you were shy you still could pull that off. The older you get the more you allow what matters to you to take hold and feel comfortable and safe in your ideals – the less of a clown you become. A mature Saggiterius Moon is full of wisdom and experience they enjoy sharing with the world. They are able to use all they learned in their travels of spirit and mind to uplift other people (Oprah Winfrey is a good example). Your happiness is contagious and your ability to not get too attached to emotions is a gift.
At heart you are an optimist who knows that life is just a game. In love you need a partner that doesn’t retrain your inner free spirit and allows you to go where you need to go. Someone who enjoys the humor and wit you possess and gives you space to grow would be ideal. For you relationships are about growth and you don’t understand why people stay together if they are miserable. Commitment for you is committing to always change and move forward. Although this is who you are- you might need a more grounded partner to take care of all the little details you are bored with and who brings stability to your racing heart.
You might like a partner who is adventurous but also practical and who shares the same views about the world and humanity. Together you can grow and change for the better. Some people may perceive you as shallow in your emotions and although they may not appreciate what you have to offer perhaps it is a lesson for you to learn to face dangerous and deeper emotional currents in life. Luckily you embrace a challenge with a smile and it will not nock you down for long.
The Scorpio wants to feel for the sake of feeling. The feeling is mistaken for truth when in fact, truth is to be found when the waves of emotions die down.
Truth is within you if you could only see the magnificent beauty of your own soul, instead of the endless current of moods you live in, If only…But you crave emotion and it is the only way you know to be alive. Is being alive the same as living? the answer is no. If this resonated with you at all then continue reading and If not please excuse this moody post.
“Sensitive people usually love deeply and hate deeply. They don’t know any other way to live than by extremes because their emotional thermostat is broken.” ― Shannon L. Adler
Today I want to talk about the complicated emotional makeup of the Moon in Scorpio. This is especially relevant as this placement is all about the experience of emotions in life. I want to write to you- my Moon in Scorpio dear person, as perhaps this might be helpful for you. I know you don’t shy away from gruesome images, hard truths and painful memories. So I trust you will forgive my harshness. Let’s face it, you are a little mad by nature or at least by nurture. Whatever the case, you are prone to at least a few problems which cause you to experience inner turmoil. The minor version of your crazy is that of the obsessive thinker- you never let a thought or idea go once in enters your head, do you? You are prone to attach your thoughts to events in your life and reimagine them over and over. Naturally you are prone various nervous break downs and insomnia. The less minor version of your crazy is all about waves, waves of ups and downs that can make the latest thriller seem tame as a puppy. Something along the lines of a bipolar disorder. You feel deeply they tell you- sure, but it just happens you feel deeply in cycles of joy and desperation. It is not a flat line of depth you experience but a storm that is within you- always.
There is nothing very wrong with you, in fact you are the most gifted individual in terms of how experienced you are in all range of feeling and knowing. But…lets ask a simple question? why are you feeling at all? What is it that you really feel?
Imagine you are sitting in your living room in a comfy chair and a commercial comes up on TV. Something about it makes you feel things. Is that emotion real? Probably not you will say, it was manipulated to make you buy stuff. You are right about that one. The question is what are you buying into every day? The secret truth is you are buying into you Scorpio Moon, the master of emotional manipulation. Thats why you feel bad and thats why things are so wrong. all the F***** time. You were born with the Moon in Scorpio, you are unique! You were born to feel and that is what you truly desire. To reach the depth of human experience and find out the truth. Yes you see- you want to feel because you want to find out truth. But we all know emotions can lie, don’t we? Are feelings really the way to the light? Perhaps for you they are. But not so fast dear…You are going mad. You are obsessed, depressed, sad, lonely, alone, angry. Why does that happen when all you wanted was to feel?
The answer is boring but true. You have a built-in mechanism (Moon) that is able to create emotion out of thin air. You have this need for feeling that isn’t satisfied with daily existence. Anyone else feels things because of events in their life.
They see a tiger? They feel fear. You don’t see a tiger and so you imagine a big scary tiger until you feel scared for you life. Thats is because your true secret fear is that of not feeling- of being empty. That would mean you are dead. Being alive for you is feeling and any moment without it must be the end. So you have this gift, this secret ability to fuel and create feelings for the sake of every breath you take. This is a gift- when it isn’t torturing you to bits. Sadly, for most of you Scorpio Moon’s this ability isn’t used for the creation of amazing art or for saving the world with you convictions. I can think of famous ones who did just that. Instead, you keep needing stimuli within you (it is not something you show) and you self-destruct. It is human nature to find negative emotions and thoughts easy to conjure and maintain. So…that is what happens when you are young. You seek emotions and when it isn’t there you create it while convincing yourself it is real and caused by X or Y.
You are not crazy, you are just walking around with this lava that is about to burn you. I beg you to either admit that you have needs to truth and love and to seek them outside of your own twisted mind, or to at least find release and expression.
Is what you feel caused by an outward event? Is it caused by the memories of the past?
What matters for you is to learn a few things before you can shine like the diamond you are.
First, learn to live in the present and to ride its current that will take you into a health future. Second, learn the usefulness of boundaries so as to differentiate your feelings from the world- you are an empath after all. Third, face your biggest fear- which is fear itself. Last, most important is learn you mission to uncover truth which you can through honest emotions not conjured by artificial means. Be it addictions, relationships or your own glorious mind. You devil.
Note: though this post describes the development of a Venus in the 8th house it greatly applies to people with charts that involve many/planets in the 8th and aspects to Pluto between the Sun and Venus
***
How does Venus translate in its opposite house of Scorpio? Venus as you know, is ruled by Taurus- a strong sensual sign in some ways reminiscent of its opposite Scorpio. After all, both signs know what they want and value and they will do a lot to make sure they have it. Venus is usually described as the planet of love and beauty, but in truth it is more the planet of values. It so happens that we value is: beauty, luxury and love. But where Venus is placed and how it is aspected will greatly differ in terms of what it is really about. I would suggest that Venus is more about the sensual material things in life: from trips abroad to fashion, it is very much involved. In the 8th, these material things need to transform into the spiritual.
The 8th house is a complicated house. I once described it as a dark cave or hole- and I stand by that. And as you know a dark cave or hole is dark only in contrast to all the light outside. If so, any planet in some hidden manner shines through in this house! It’s a complicated ordeal don’t get me wrong- but it’s not a negative one. Then again it sure can be- as Venus is so sensual that it can be put to the test in a house that deals with other people’s money and sex. That said, let me describe this placement to the best of my ability.
Venus in the 8th development:
Venus in the 8th house has a love problem- their lesson in life is to learn a full all-consuming spiritual love that lets go of power. These are people with a very rich emotional life- no matter if its good or bad they tend to value this intensity that makes them feel alive. This life is usually well hidden or obscured by all sorts of things so other people rarely know the extent of feeling that is there. A Venus in the 8th house was born with love emanating from them in waves- somewhat erotic or misunderstood most likely by them and their families. The type of reactions this Scorpio/8th house Venus arouses from people as children even is a bit freighting. People around them feel confronted with their own hidden needs and so they try to control or become controlled by the young 8th house Venus. The result is that extreme boundaries and issues of power and control are a major theme in any 8th house love life- on that a little later.
How that plays out differs- a Leo 8th house Venus may be that kid that plays in theater or even dances while the Virgo Venus may become so strict with controlling themselves and their “wrong” emotions and urges to the point of repression. The key here is, that almost always their loving nature is not understood by others so much. Like Plutonian people they too can be labeled as dangerous, strange and wrong by parents and teachers or society. Why? They don’t know their own love nature and so they accept what other people tell them- that they are a little too intense and a little wild or maybe even crazy.
As teenagers, they naturally become most aware and awakened to their potential for emotional understanding- as they usually have a high intelligence in this regard, they know that things are complicated early on, and during this stage of life they become somewhat preoccupied with this range of emotions that can be labeled as “dark”. It is common for them to be interested in anything the subculture had to offer as long as it is also somewhat beautiful in a broken or poetic kind of way. They want to learn and feel everything and therefore, keep finding themselves in situations that are a little extreme or overwhelming. They form relationships that offer them the experience of deep emotional intimacy. The thing is that teenagers though prone to dramatic behaviors and mood swings, don’t always have the capacity for a relationship not based on superficial things that is so fully needed by the Venus in the 8th house. At first, they may try very hard to fit into those superficial roles- they do know how to style themselves in that way that makes them popular. After all they are so into the rebel counter culture. If they manage to find their place in that way that is great but chances are they will find most relationships lack the meaning and loyalty they so value. It is during their teenage years they begin to reconsider all they learned as children about their ability to give and receive love. By their love of rebel culture, they allow themselves not to control the intense urges for intimacy. You see- it is all just a tool for that end and most likely they don’t agree with the values of the counter- culture. They simply use the fashion, music and rhetoric of a darker nature to allow some healthy self-expression.
The way this plays out greatly differs- some 8th house Venus teens allow the feelings to rise through art, books or even sports. They may hide in their room for hours writing suicidal poetry and listening to Gothic music. Others take a more risky road that involves going out into the world without protection- as protecting their heart is not going to allow them to delve deep into the human love they yearn to experience. Whether in fantasy or reality, most 8th house Venus has stormy teenage years that involved some major transformation as a result of a relationship or even a tragedy.
The mature 8th house Venus is a person that finally cultivated their attraction to the fatal with a high level of ability to give and receive erotic energy. The best way to illustrate this is by the stages described above. The first stage involved a denial of one’s ability to love and be loved in the way that as needed. Even if they were very loved by people- just not in a way that felt good. They may have learned that when they love another- be it a parent, brother or friends- it is wrong. They learned that they take too much- ask for too much and give something that others understand as erotic instead of pure. By erotic I mean it aroused some dark emotional currents in their loved ones and as a result they were deeply rejected or used- all this happens on some very invisible level and chances are it happens in the Venus 8th house person’s soul- which makes it a very real experience for them. This description is also true in some way about other planets in the 8th house and major aspects to Pluto (I wish to write a post just about that one day).
In addition to having some complicated emotional needs and a lot of lessons about being loved and loving others. Venus in the 8th house is greatly related with dealing with other people’s money and possessions. These people may not arouse other people to be nice to them but it arouses them to trust them with what they own. Interesting right? In part I believe that the great emotional needs they had translated into material and sensual needs- more easily answered! Even if they grew up very poor they still knew how to find something or receive what they wanted from others- as long as it was material. The same intense and (sorry but it’s the best word) erotic energy they had allowed them to attract luxury into their lives. Luxury could mean just having a little more than those around them – so it always depends on that. I think that learning to use the same charm for unselfish means is the real lesson here.
They are very good with making something out of nothing and can really make money grow. They are generally very good at attracting the luxury of this world as long as they don’t own it. For example, it’s not uncommon for them to work in charity organizations where they end up collecting the highest donations. Anything they touch with their senses becomes suddenly more valuable. This at times can be true of people – they can elevate someone’s status by being with them! In all cases they are a little behind the scenes and the success largely depends on how much of their emotions they invest.
This brings us to the topic of relationships and marriage. Here the genders should be separated. The women with the 8th house Venus need and want someone who can offer them a cocktail of intoxicating romance which at times is toxic. What this drug looks like depends on the sign but in all cases a need for a special kind of intimacy is present. They want someone who is strong enough to accept their love without fear- and be consumed by it. Someone they can trust not to use that against them in anyway. They learned that love is all or nothing- because when younger their love was either rejected and feared or accepted and abused. The best partner for them is someone who can appreciate what they offer while still being strong enough to not let all the passion and desire become too much- In other words someone who is capable of a soul bond but also of setting boundaries. Can you imagine someone like that? Strong enough to let go and keep it together at the same time, now that is magic.
Women here need to be very careful that they marry for the right reasons- as they may give up on the above ideal and settle for someone who is only socially powerful. They may confuse money and power with spiritual strength. As they naturally have that something about them that attracts powerful (controlling) people who just happen to be rich. I’m sorry to say but the low current of such placement tends to marry for money. Unlike the 10th house Venus it is not a real need- they don’t need the luxury they just need to feel protected enough to bond with another person.
Man with this Venus need a partner that is a little complex- someone who is mysterious. They too should be careful they marry or commit for the right reasons- they need to learn to be connected to their hearts desire even if it is hard to understand.
In conclusion, the Venus in the 8th house is that person who will transform themselves many times. They go through stages when all they can do is take from others- and moments of pure despair when one they give isn’t appreciated. They love with passion that is powerful, soulful, poetic and sensitive to the hidden aspects of life.
They can teach others to really enjoy being in love even if it doesn’t feel good. Their love is going to have an element of pain in it- always, but also healing for all the people who were not loved and accepted- and most of all they learn to love themselves with all their faults. As they are truly beautiful in their way of loving even the broken things that can e made whole again. They see the broken parts in other people but they paint them with a fire os passion and rebirth…So they transform the person they love and themselves forever.
Up to this point, I avoided writing about Saturn. It wasn’t a thought out decision perhaps- but if was something I felt more comfortable with. Saturn is a very tricky planet to write about- not so much because it deals with the most difficult lessons in our life, but because it isn’t easy to pin down. The reason for this is that fear in general, is not something we understand until we overcome it. It is a basic accepted “fact” (starting with Freud) that until we know the reason for our fear we won’t be able to get rid of it. Saturn is also the grown up in out chart- it is the responsible adult that tells us we must work hard, play less and maybe then we might turn out good people.
***
A strong Saturn is one that can indeed teach as much about life even if he is not the one that makes things easy for us. it usually isn’t a pleasant experience, when someone shows me their chart I make sure to study their Saturn first so I can understand where their pain and difficulty arises from. Saturn is ruled by both Aquarius and Capricorn- two signs that work hard to build institutions on this earth, erect governments and punish the criminals.
Saturn is a bit of a superhero really! A dark hero though he may be. He saves us from making the same mistakes again and again – like a wise elder that reminds us that fire is hot and we shouldn’t stick our little hands where they don’t belong.
Saturn isn’t mean- He is just knows so much he has not time for small talk and smiles. We usually feel our Saturn in our childhood- all the things we never chose, like our parents and teachers. We may also feel Saturn in our relationship with society- when we feel alone in a room full of people- this is our hero in black, teaching us to be our own person. When we feel we don’t deserve love and that things are too hard to deal with- it’s him again.
Think about it: every person on this earth is born with some inner and outer restrictions that serve a purpose. It isn’t always obvious- for example a child born to a very rich family may face his restrictions as a result of that privilege. A small girl born with Saturn in the 6th house- will have to work like a grown up- becoming a child star.
Saturn also rules “time”- how so? As it rules things that last: long-term relationships as well as actual social constructs. It is very traditional at heart- not a liberal hero. It wants to use the past so it can build on top of it. This includes your past memories and things which serve as a base for who you are. Things that last require work and commitment, like a marriage for example- if both parties are not ready to commit and are able to do things which they find hard- the marriage isn’t going to work. Any long-term commitment requires sacrifice of the ego- making place for another person in your life. Isn’t that a good thing? Of course it is- if you understand that the commitment will lead to a real strong relationship. If you don’t understand that, then indeed Saturn may seem like an evil doer. The trick is to always see the goal ahead- not the path. Saturn wants you to know that you are going somewhere, building, creating and growing. Marriage is a great example for how Saturn works:
Marriage is a great example for how Saturn works: Two people meet and are attracted to each other. They have fun going on dates and having romantic moments and adventures together. That time in the relationship is almost perfect- both think that the other person is perfect and more than that- perfect for them. They say they are in love and they feel it too. Then one day something happens- maybe one of them does something that hurts or bothers the other person and maybe they even fight, or maybe one of them loses their jobs or becomes ill- the Saturn domain. In happens in any relationship but chances are they both think it means something about that one specific relationship- the one that stops being all fun and games. It can be a painful discovery- suddenly your love is not the perfect person you thought. Instead, they are weak, flawed- they are human! Suddenly the relationship isn’t perfect- you have to find a job, deal with the illness. Saturn at this point is your best compass- it will show you how to deal best with all the hard times and how to build a new and stronger foundation. If you manage the good times will return- they will not be perfect but they will be real and meaningful- they will be real love. A commitment and understanding- a marriage of souls. Saturn is a very unromantic planet- but a romantic at heart for he can lead you to actually realize your dreams in the real world.
If you manage do learn Saturn’s moves in battle then the good times will return, they will not be perfect, but they will be real and meaningful- they will be real love. Saturn is a very unromantic planet- but a romantic at heart for he can lead you to actually realize your dreams in the real world.
He does protect you more than you know- from becoming less than you should be.
So face your fears- knowing they are just the path not the goal and that the end of your journey is beautiful. You will stand taller and stronger having overcome Saturn and having built something lasting.
Astro-Tip: Stop fearing yourself. Let your feral animal out of the cage and you will find out they are not so dangerous.
What happens when a planet is on your ascendant? It dramatically affects how people perceive you. In the case of Pluto the results are fascinating and sometimes surprising.
Pluto in the first house people are the kind of people who walk into a room- and the air changes. They have a strong presence- both for positive and negative. It is not about how they look but more to do with the way they hold themselves. Pluto is seductive- but also dominating. Pluto holds all the secrets of life and death- it is the key. So imagine a person that represents all these dark secrets in their very being. Pluto rising people are usually not aware they have this type of presence or strong effect on people. They may feel hurt and surprised by the way people sometimes fear them- or worse try and dominate and control them!
Why? It is as if other people feel the power and try to protect against it by being controlling or aggressive towards the Pluto rising person.
When they grow up they learn to either repress or mask their presence or they use it to reach their goals. In my experience, the second option is much healthier. Many amazing artists and performers have this placement- they radiate it and use is as a creative vehicle.
How? Pluto is about transformation, the deep and hidden kind, like that of Scorpio and the 8th house. So they change their look and style every few years- they literally become someone else. If they are more spiritually evolved they would change and shed their personality and not only their look and style. Some Pluto rising people fall into the trap of plastic surgery and obsession with how they look. A happy Pluto rising person is capable of transforming themselves for the better instead- they work on their character and spiritual growth. They can then influence in their environment- changing it for the better.
My tip for them is to stop trying to control and hide who they are- instead use it for the better. Be creative, live dangerously and change society. For example they can live dangerously only to help others- many medical professionals have this placement. They can use their ability to change to be great actors- turning into their very character with ease. A great example is Meryl Streep who is known for transforming herself deeply before each role. Or Charlize Theron who changed her appearance dramatically for “Monster” (2003). The roles both actresses choose reflect Pluto perfectly- dealing with death, sexual trauma, pain and the past.
Some male examples known to do the same that have Pluto rising are Joaquin Phoenix who plays characters in conflict or dealing with mental and emotional issues. In the movie “The master” (2012) he plays a troubled boozy drifter who joins a cult. And who can forget Stephen King? the author known for his horror and supernatural stories who is also mysterious in real life. He also transformed himself greatly from a heavy drug use to a completely sober and successful author.
To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.- Winston Churchill
